Fab and Bloom

Lifestyle, fashion, fiction, creativity and the lot…

Africana (1)

Hey, Fabbers(lol! Cheeky right?) so the first post was a success, thanks to your support and wonderful comments, I really appreciate the love…expected it, but didn’t expect it to be so much! So again, thank you.

As promised, at least one themed post every week and today’s theme is inspired by African prints….

I bet almost every one has seen the “Osuofia in London” movie, it was every where and there have been arguments about how african’s were portrayed around the world. The movie is a comedy and it was done mostly for laughs, but in it’s wake was left a stigma. Almost every one who is not African and even a few of us who are Africans think Africans are barbaric, uncivilized, ignorant, backwards etc. Infact, I traveled to England sometime two years back, London to be exact, went shopping and I met this foreigner like myself. When we got talking, she asked, innocently, I must add😅 “Is it true Africans live in mud houses, fight a lot and sleep next to wild animals?!” I won’t tell you my reply😂 but, the reason for this long talk is that we Africans need to learn to appreciate ourselves, see that we are blessed and showcase our traditions and cultures in the best light possible and with pride. We should be proud of who we are, from our skin to what we wear and even more, hence the birth of this shoot!

In this theme, I portray a a happy, classy and proud African woman!

By the way, I am not saying it’s wrong to learn, borrow or appreciate other cultures, after all different spices make the soup, I am just saying that the main content in bitter leaf soup  (onugbu) is the bitter leaf itself.  So, we should stop looking down on ourselves because if we don’t do so, how can we expect others to think well of us or see what great things we are capable of?

Hope you like? If you do, follow, like, share your thoughts and please spread the word!💋

The End!💋

P.s: All the outfits used during the shoot were designed by me, I should consider a career in fashion designing, no? 😊

***Thanks to my friend, Splash, she was a huge support all through the duration of this shoot and many more.

This was a very profound quote. I liked it very much. I have seen that African prints are verylarge and bold. I am sure it will make a great combination with solid colours. Am also looking forward to seeing more African inspired jewellery in ur future posts.
